In 2004, levelsource.com (RIP) hosted a competition called Geocomp3. Each geocomps primary goals were to create maps with grand looking brushwork, not focusing on textures. Basically, create the best looking map you can using a set of minimal textures. My map ended up being a disappointment, as I ran out of time and were forced to mirror my finished sections to have something I could release. My memory eludes me, but I believe I ended up placing somewhere at the middle of the table.
